From Marti Michell

From Marti Michell is a pattern and acrylic template / ruler company owned an operated by Richard & Marti Michell.  Believe it or not, cotton fabric was once hard to find.  They started Yours Truly in 1972 and began making fabric project kits to sell at craft shows, stores in Atlanta, and eventually thru mail-order magazines.  Between 1976 -1981, they began offering patterns and specially made batting, including the 120″ x 120″.  The owned the brick and mortar shop called Ginger Snap Station.  Yours Truly began publishing quilting books for direct sale in 1978 and provided a “coming out party” for a variety of popular quilters, such as Harriet Hargrave, Liz Porter & Marianne Fons, Susan McKelvey, and Mary Ellen Hopkins.

In 1994, Jane Gruchaez, a quilter from Florida, contacted Marti with an idea for making acrylic templates.  With Marti’s love of geometry, she wasn’t keen on templates.  But they talked and planned with Richard and eventually Perfect Patchwork Templates were born.  The awesome engineered corner concept was Jane’s idea, and what an improvement it makes in piecing; no dog-ears, perfectly aligned shapes, and little to no trimming!
