6″ Fall Leaf quilt label – tutorial

A colorful, fall leaf quilt label for seasonal quilts.

6″ finished

background:

  • (1) 2″ x 2″
  • (1) 2″ x 5″
  • (1) 2″ x 6 1/2″
  • (2) 2 3/8″ x 2 3/8″
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″

leaf:

  • (3) 2″ x 2″
  • (2) 2 3/8″ x 2 3/8″

stem:

  • (1) 2″ x 2″

Stem:  draw a diagonal line on the (2) 1 1/2″ square background pieces.  Sew on the line, trim 1/4″ from the line (towards the corner) and press the seam open. Repeat for the other corner of the stem square.  Stem square should measure 2″ unfinished.

OR use the N80 template to trim the stem fabric and cut a background triangles.

Make the background / leaf half-square triangles.  Place a 2 3/8″ leaf square right sides together with a 2 3/8″ background square.  Draw a diagonal line corner to corner and sew 1/4″ on either side of the line.  Cut apart on the line.  Press seams open.

They should measure 2″ unfinished.

Lay out the half-square triangles, squares, and stem square.  Sew into rows.

Add the (2) background rectangles.
